Just 2 days after David Bowie’s death, actor Alan Rickman dies at age 69, the victim of cancer just like the famous singer. Here’s a short information about his demise
Here are some of his most memorable moments as Professor Severus Snape in the Harry Potter series.
JK Rowling, who wrote the Harry Potter books, said: “There are no words to express how shocked and devastated I am to hear of Alan Rickman’s death. He was a magnificent actor & a wonderful man”, while Michael Gambon, who played Dumbledore, said: “Everybody loved Alan. He was always happy and fun and creative and very, very funny.”
He also participated in big films like Die Hard, Robin Hood – Prince of Thieves, the romance film “Truly, madly, deeply”. He also acted in the movie “Love Actually” where he share a scene with the funny Rowan Atkinson A.K.A. “Mr Bean”
That Rickman never won an Oscar (he did receive a Golden Globe, an Emmy and many more) but it did not seem to trouble the actor himself. “Parts win prizes, not actors,” he said in 2008.
A family statement said: ‘The actor and director Alan Rickman has died from cancer at the age of 69. He was surrounded by family and friends.’
His brother David, 71, added: ‘He passed away this morning. He was in a hospital at the time.’
It is not yet known what type of cancer the London-born star suffered from, or how long he was secretly battling the illness.
He left a great legacy for the film industry and he will always be remembered. Yippy ki yay, Alan!
